Introduction to MyGPTs
MyGPTs allow you to create a customized version of ChatGPT that is focused on a specific topic area or task. By training it on custom datasets and instructions, you can shape its knowledge and responses for your particular needs.
Step 1: Access MyGPTs
- Log into your ChatGPT account and ensure you are on the ChatGPT Personal or Professional plan.
- Click on the profile icon in the top right and select “My GPTs” from the dropdown menu.
Step 2: Create a New MyGPT
- Click the “+” button to start making a new MyGPT.
- Give your MyGPT a name and description for the skill you want it to have. Make this clear and specific.
Step 3: Configure Instructions
- In the instructions section, write 2–3 detailed paragraphs explaining exactly what you want this MyGPT to be skilled at and how you’d like it to behave.
Step 4: Add Conversation Starters
- Conversation starters set the stage for how you will engage with it. Write 5–10 sample questions or prompts to see it in action.
Step 5: Upload Training Data
- To really tailor its knowledge, click “Add File” and upload documents relevant to guiding its responses in this specialty area. This can radically improve skill.
Step 6: Test It Out!
- Try out your prompts and upload more training data if responses aren’t tuned to your needs. Refine over multiple iterations.
